At Merit Kitchens, the Finisher plays a vital role in ensuring that all cabinet parts are finished to a consistently high quality within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include identifying and discarding defective products, performing all work in a safe manner, and cleaning and maintaining painting and coating equipment, ventilation systems, compressed air tools, and personal protective equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation: Sanding, cleaning, and preparing cabinet surfaces for finishing to ensure consistent and even application of coatings.
- Application of finishes: Applying stains, lacquers, paints, glazes, and sealers using air-assist spray guns.
- Equipment operation: Setting up and operating finishing machines, such as spray guns and spray pumps, as well as using power tools like orbital sanders.
- Quality control: Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards.
- Work area management: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following company policies and safety guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools, spray guns, and sanders for different finishing processes.
- Attention to detail: Ability to ensure accurate and consistent application of finishes and to spot any defects or flaws.
- Material knowledge: Understanding of different stains, paints, wood species, and other finishing materials, as well as their proper applications.
- Physical fitness: Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform tasks requiring physical exertion.
- Safety consciousness: Commitment to following all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
