At Merit Kitchens, the Finisher plays a vital role in ensuring that all cabinet parts are finished to a consistently high quality within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include identifying and discarding defective products, performing all work in a safe manner, and cleaning and maintaining painting and coating equipment, ventilation systems, compressed air tools, and personal protective equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation: Sanding, cleaning, and preparing cabinet surfaces for finishing to ensure consistent and even application of coatings.
Application of finishes: Applying stains, lacquers, paints, glazes, and sealers using air-assist spray guns.
Equipment operation: Setting up and operating finishing machines, such as spray guns and spray pumps, as well as using power tools like orbital sanders.
Quality control: Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards.
Work area management: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following company policies and safety guidelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools, spray guns, and sanders for different finishing processes.
Attention to detail: Ability to ensure accurate and consistent application of finishes and to spot any defects or flaws.
Material knowledge: Understanding of different stains, paints, wood species, and other finishing materials, as well as their proper applications.
Physical fitness: Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform tasks requiring physical exertion.
Safety consciousness: Commitment to following all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Compensation is based on our structured Finisher leveling system. Placement within the range will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, technical skills, and demonstrated level of proficiency during the interview and assessment process.
