JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations across multiple departments, ensuring production targets, workflow efficiency, and operator performance are achieved.
This role supports alignment across production and other functional areas to help achieve productivity, quality, delivery, and safety objectives. The Production Supervisor is expected to be rotatable across departments, with a strong emphasis on operational flow rather than technical specialization.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES:
Production Oversight & Throughput:
- Supervise daily production activities to ensure output targets are met.
- Monitor workflow and remove bottlenecks to maximize throughput.
- Ensure operators are aligned with daily production priorities and operational requirements.
- Coordinate resources and staffing to support operational demands.
- Escalate production issues that may impact output, workflow, or delivery performance.
- Balance daily workload to support production targets and delivery commitments.
- Support inventory control and material availability to avoid production delays.
Team Leadership & Floor Management:
- Lead and support production employees on the shop floor.
- Assign tasks and ensure clarity of daily production priorities.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and work performance.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support to improve team effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.
- Support employee onboarding, training, and development to build operational flexibility across teams.
- Reinforce performance expectations, attendance standards, and accountability on the shop floor.
Cross-Functional Flexibility (Key Requirement):
- Operate as a generalist supervisor, capable of working across departments (Assembly, Fabrication, Finishing, Shipping).
- Adapt quickly to different production environments and team structures.
- Focus on managing people and workflow rather than technical specialization.
- Support workforce rotation and operational flexibility initiatives.
Process Improvement & Efficiency:
- Identify inefficiencies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with Production Manager to implement process changes that improve output.
- Support lean manufacturing practices and waste reduction.
- Contribute to improving workflow, layout, and operational processes.
- Support the implementation of new production methods and process improvements that increase efficiency while maintaining quality.
Quality & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and procedures.
- Enforce health and safety regulations on the production floor.
- Address unsafe conditions and behaviors immediately.
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the production floor and reinforce safe work practices.
- Identify, investigate, and address safety or environmental concerns in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area.
Communication & Coordination:
- Communicate production priorities and updates to operators and leadership.
- Coordinate with supervisors and cross-functional teams to align workflow and operational priorities.
- Report production issues, delays, and performance concerns.
- Participate in daily production meetings and shift handovers.
- Coordinate work activities with other departments to ensure smooth production flow and on-time delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Post-secondary education in manufacturing, operations, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Skills & Experience:
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of shop floor operations and workflow.
- Ability to manage people across different departments (generalist mindset).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles is an asset.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand on the manufacturing floor for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift to 50 lbs if required.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Base salary range: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year (commensurate with experience).
