JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and overall commercial performance across Merit Kitchens' BC and Alberta showrooms. This role provides strategic sales leadership by developing high-performing sales teams, coaching showroom designers on how to sell, identifying new business opportunities and building relationships with prospective customers (builders, contractors, interior designers, etc.) and ensuring the achievement of quarterly and annual sales targets. The Sales Manager will bring a results-driven culture while delivering an exceptional customer experience and maintaining consistent sales performance across both locations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales Performance:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue objectives across both BC and Alberta showrooms.
- Drive consistent sales growth through proactive coaching, accountability, and performance management.
- Own showroom business development efforts - build and maintain strong relationships with builders, developers, dealers, architects, designers, and key clients.
- Monitor sales KPIs, conversion rates, average order value, margins, and overall showroom performance.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and competitive advantages.
- Develop action plans to address sales gaps and maximize profitability.
- Prepare sales forecasts and provide regular performance reporting to senior leadership.
Sales Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire Design Leads, Designers, Project Coordinators, and Sales Associates at both showroom locations.
- Foster a high-performance sales culture focused on accountability, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
- Coach team members on consultative selling techniques, product knowledge, and closing strategies.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and talent development.
Customer Experience:
- Ensure an exceptional customer experience throughout the sales journey.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns while maintaining long-term relationships.
- Promote consistent sales processes and showroom standards across both locations.
Business Management:
- Collaborate with Marketing, Manufacturing, and Operations to support business objectives.
- Ensure accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management.
- Travel regularly between British Columbia and Alberta to support both showroom teams (90-95% in BC, 5-10% in AB)
- May perform other duties as delegated by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of progressive sales experience, preferably in the cabinetry, construction, interior design, or building materials industry.
- 1-2+ years of leadership experience considered an advantage.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets while driving revenue growth.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and performance management skills.
- Excellent business development, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
- Strong understanding of consultative sales processes and customer relationship management.
- Ability to analyze sales performance metrics, identify opportunities, and implement effective sales strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CRM systems is considered an asset.
- Experience with 20/20 Kitchen Design software and cabinetry industry knowledge is considered an asset.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, builders, dealers, designers, and key stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently while fostering collaboration across teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between British Columbia and Alberta (approximately 75% BC / 25% AB).
- Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Base Salary: $60,000 CAD annually, plus a performance-based commission plan:
- 1% commission on achievement of the Langley Design Centre annual sales target ($3M target).
- 1% commission on achievement of the Calgary Design Centre annual sales target ($1.5M target).
- Target total annual compensation: approximately $105,000 CAD upon achievement of both showroom sales targets.
